Crime incidents in Negros Island Region decreased by 18.6 percent in February this year compared to the figures in February 2025.

In a report, the Police Regional Office- Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said crime incidents totaled 700 last month, lower by 160 incidents from a year ago’s 860.

“This significant reduction reflects sustained efforts in crime prevention, focused police operations, and strengthened community partnerships across the region, the PRO-NIR said in a statement.

At the same time, the eight focus crimes, including murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, motorcycle theft, and carnapping declined by 18.82 percent.

Despite the positive gains, the PRO-NIR reiterated that efforts to reduce crime will not be relaxed.

“We will sustain focused police operations, strengthen intelligence-led approaches, and further enhance community-oriented programs to ensure lasting peace and security across all provinces,” it added. | GB
