The municipality of Santa Catalina in Negros Oriental celebrated a major milestone with the blessing and transfer ceremony of its new Government Center in Sitio Malapagyao, Poblacion Nov. 18.
The day’s event started with the groundbreaking of the PNP Regional Special Training Unit building, led by Rev. Fr. Dexter Pomada and P/BGen. Marcelo Bassig Dayag, director of the PNP Training Service.
The program continued with a mass at the new center, followed by the ribbon-cutting, blessing, and official tour of the newly-established government facility. The ceremony brought together leaders and representatives from various sectors, demonstrating strong support for the continued development of Santa Catalina.


Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, in his message, emphasized the importance of strengthening local governance, enhancing public service facilities, and fostering collaboration between the provincial and municipal governments.
He stressed the provincial leadership’s commitment to supporting Santa Catalina’s growth and long-term development, the Capitol said in a press release.
Mayor Peve Ligan of Santa Catalina, Dumaguete City Councilor Melissa Sagarbarria, Board Member Peter Paul Renacia, Jose Escalante – president of the Pinoy Workers Partylist, as well as provincial, municipal, and barangay officials, among others, also witnessed this significant accomplishment for the town.
The successful blessing and transfer ceremony marked a new beginning for Santa Catalina, one that reflects unity, progress, and a shared vision of delivering better public service to the community. ||
