The Philippine Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion in central Negros is now headed by Lt. Col. Divar Crisostomo.
Crisostomo, who served as the executive officer of the 302nd Infantry Brigade (IB) stationed in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, succeeded Lt. Col. Evelio Ilanga III.
Maj. Gen. Michael Samson, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division, presided the change of command leadership at the 302IB headquarters on Oct. 18.
Under the leadership of Ilanga, the 62IB had numerous successful armed engagements that led to the neutralization of several New People’s Army rebels, who died in a series of encounters, and the recovery of various firearms.
The 62IB also facilitated the surrender of several rebels, who also yielded firearms.
For his part, Crisostomo rallied support to his leadership, which was also extended to his predecessor.
Samson called on the 62IB troopers to extend their full support and cooperation to Crisostomo to sustain the unit’s momentum against rebel remnants and successfully accomplish its mission. | GB
