A fire destroyed 87 houses and damaged six others at Greenville Bato in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday (Sept. 22).
The 395 displaced individuals are now staying at the covered court in Barangay Rizal while 31 other families were moved to a quarantine facility in Barangay 2.
They were immediately provided with relief assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
Initial investigation of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) showed the fire was caused by electrical ignition due to overloading from an octopus connection of wires.
No injuries were reported.
The BFP placed the estimated damage at P2.6 million. | GB
