Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said they will submit proposed designs on the public plaza restoration for review by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

The designs came from various groups, including the United Architects of the Philippines–Bacolod Chapter, in a bid to enhance the plaza restoration project.

Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said they will submit proposed designs on the public plaza restoration for review by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

A coordination meeting between TIEZA and the city government is set for next week to align these restoration plans.

“We will listen to their assessment of what they did, but there will definitely be many changes made,” he said.

Gasataya confirmed that the Negros Occidental Historical Commission has recommended the removal of the controversial white balls, and offer assistance to the city.

A formal presentation will be held before any final modifications to the plaza design are made.

Gasataya also inspected the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) fountain project that is on a two- to three-week commissioning phase.

The mayor noted that the gray-and-white flooring at the fountain area was poorly constructed, and requested that it be redone.

He clarified that only the fountain and lights are currently operational while adjustments are being made.

Gasataya noted that it is too early to evaluate the project as the city and TIEZA must first assess necessary technical adjustments.| TMD
