Department of the Interior and Local Government Bacolod city director Christian Nagaynay confirmed June 25 the resignation of Barangay 13 captain Tanya Familiaran, for personal reasons.
Nagaynay said they received the letter of Familiaran June 20, stating that she was resigning from her post as punong barangay (PB) effective June 9.
The highest ranking kagawad, Cecilia Chavez, will replace Familiaran.
Nagaynay said the DILG will ensure that there will be no leadership vacuum and that the delivery of service to barangay residents will not be hampered. They will meet with Chavez and other barangay officials for a smooth transition this afternoon, June 26.
Familiaran is the daughter-in-law of outgoing Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran. She replaced her husband, Andre, as Barangay 13 PB when he resigned in Sept. 2020. She won in the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, and accompanied her in-laws during the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy for mayor in this year’s midterm polls. | CGC
