The border checkpoints established by the Himamaylan City government in Paco, Libacao and Enclaro as part of its efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 will be lifted effective Nov. 7, Saturday.
The decision to lift the three checkpoints was contained in Executive Order No. 2020-53 issued by Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Nov. 5 following consultations with barangay stakeholders and local officials to ease the rules on returning local residents who are working or based outside of Himamaylan.
But Tongson said that while the local government is easing the policy on Himamaylanons with jobs elsewhere in the province, they must strictly comply with minimum health protocols and cooperate in the LGU’s campaign against the spread of COVID-19.
Tongson, in his executive order, said safety measures must be observed by all city residents who are living or working outside of Himamaylan but within Negros Occidental.
All residents, who intend to return home must register with their respective barangays through their village head, secretary or any official barangay representative, the mayor said.
The barangay officials shall in turn notify purok president of the arrival of residents, and assist them in monitoring work, the same order said.
To ensure safety of other members of the community, Himamaylanons going home on weekends or during their day off from work shall only stay inside their residence, the EO said.
“It is expressly understood that the arriving residents are strictly prohibited from going out of their residence while in the city except when he or she shall already go back to work or return to his place of origin or destination,” Tongson added in EO 2020-53.
