Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod’s Art Cove announced the opening of “Day-Off”, a two-man show featuring the unique works of Negrosanon artists Revo Yanson and Ryn Paul Gonzales.
“Day Off” offers art viewers a reminiscent view of the concept of rest, or taking breaks. The exhibit represents the intrinsic nature to search for simple joys beyond the allurements of the world, said Yanson.
“Personally, looking at the artworks of our dear artists awakened an old perspective of rest. A time travel to a period where we define fun as a stroll in the park, enjoy face-to-face conversations with friends and family, and where nature is our playground,” said Sherwin Lucas, Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod general manager, in his welcome speech, during the July 21 opening of the exhibit.
The new display consists of 19 masterpieces, each done intricately by the artists.
Yanson’s works were done using pen and ink on Vellum board, and Gonzales’ pieces used a mix of oil paints, etching, and metal inlays on a sugarcane knife.
“I chose to work on the sugar cane knives and included symbolic characters, such as the carabao, that portrays our struggles and perseverance to survive,” said Gonzales.
The featured artists led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and were assisted by Lucas and front office manager Archie Javellana. The private launch was graced by local media, select corporate guests, SM affiliates, and Negrense art personalities.
The exhibit is now open to the public and will run until October 8.
