The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has declared that the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day were generally peaceful in Western Visayas with the absence of any major incident related to the holidays.
About 2,500 police personnel were deployed by the PRO-6 regionwide to man the police assistance desks in cemeteries, ports, terminals and other areas of convergence and 1,872 force multipliers were mobilized to assist the police forces.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, attributed the accomplishment to the all policemen deployed in provinces of Negros Occidental, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and the highly-urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

“We recognize the sacrifices and commitment of our unit commanders and all police personnel across the region for truthfully and dedicatedly performing their individual tasks that led to a peaceful 2024 Undas,” Wanky said.
The PRO-6 also noted a reduction in crime incidents by 12.5 percent from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, recording 77 crime incidents compared to 88 incidents during the same period last year.
Among the eight focus crimes, it recorded 12 incidents from last year’s 22.
The eight focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, theft, robbery, rape, carnapping of motor vehicle, and carnapping of motorcycle.
“As the people return to their work places and the students go back to school, our police visibility and other police interventions will continue to ensure that everyone is safe and secure,” Wanky said. | GB
