Deputy Speaker Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez is pushing for expanded opportunities and support for children with special needs, including the establishment of an inclusive learning resource center (ILRC) in Bacolod City.
Benitez said the proposed ILRC, which will be located at Bacolod City National High School campus, will provide children with special needs access to skills training, assessment and therapy services.
The initiative will also give children opportunities to showcase their talents while helping their families connect with medical specialists and therapy centers.
In a social media post, Benitez said parents will likewise be equipped with therapeutic strategies that they can continue applying at home.
“More opportunities for children with special needs. More support for their families. A more inclusive future for everyone,” Benitez said.
The initiative is part of Benitez’s broader push for programs that promote the inclusion, protection and empowerment of children with special needs.
Benitez also filed House Bill No. 3379 or the proposed National Autism Program, which seeks to provide comprehensive financial and medical support to individuals with autism and their families.
The lawmaker said the efforts aim to help build a society that understands, nurtures, protects and empowers every child to reach their full potential. | GPB
