Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday clarified that contrary to claims, he is not endorsing anyone for councilor in connection with the Asenso Bacolod convention slated on Sept. 15.
The six applicants vying for two available seats as Asenso Bacolod candidates for councilor in the May 2025 elections are former councilor Homer Bais, village chiefs Jose Maria Leandro Norberto de Leon of Vista Alegre, Jhun Marby Orola of Barangay 26, Teodoro Yulo of Barangay 34, and Elmer Villanueva of Barangay 40, and former candidate Rico Villafuerte.
“I am leaving it to the leaders of the party to choose who they will want to carry our advocacy for the progress of Bacolod,” Benitez said.
During the Asenso Bacolod convention, the incumbent councilors, who will seek reelection, and councilor-aspirants will be announced. | GB
