Bacolod SP commends Gayares for placing 9th in nursing exams

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod congratulated Antonio Alexi Gayares, of Barangay Taculing, for landing in the 9th spot in the Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE), with a rating of 90.20 percent.

Gayares, a graduate of the Adventist University of the Philippines, brought honor and prestige to Bacolod for passing the May 2024 PNLE, the resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang, and approved by the SP during its session May 14, said.

“Gayares exemplifies that excellence and success can be achieved through hard work, determination and dedication; and the SP joins the whole City in congratulating him” for making Bacolodnons proud of his outstanding performance in the examination, the resolution added.

Bacolodnon Antonio Alexi Gayares, of Barangay Taculing, and a graduate of the Adventist University of the Philippines, who landed in the 9th spot in the Nurses Licensure Examination, with a rating of 90.20 percent.

Ang said the topnotcher is the son of Dr. Maria Jocelyn Gayares and Dr. Hector Gayares Jr., the former president of the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center and chief executive officer of the Adventist International Healthcare System, who played an important role during the pandemic, working as a volunteer deputy for medical services of the city government’s COVID Emergency Operations Center.

The Professional Regulation Commission said the other day that 7,749 out of 11,116 examinees passed the PNLE given by the Board of Nursing, and topped by Abigal Escueta Cayanan of St. Jude College-Dasmarinas, Cavite Inc., with a rating of 92.60 percent.

Meanwhile, the SP also approved another resolution of Ang, commending Hanna Joy Sayam for winning the grand prize in the figurative category of the Sining Filipina art competition, held in Taguig City on March 22, 2024.

Sayam, a resident of Purok Katahanon, Brgy. Banago, bested 256 entries and won the grand prize through her artwork entitled, “Pira-pirasong Tela ng mga Marias”, Ang said.

The 30-year-old independent artist and alumnus of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University won P250,000 in grand prize and a Sining Filipina trophy specially created by sculptor Charming Baldemor, the resolution said.

“Sayam’s accomplishment serves as proof that Bacolod City harbors numerous homegrown creatives, capable of shining on both national or international stage,” Ang said, adding that the Sining Filipina art competition is exclusive and provides a platform for women to express their unique perspectives and narratives, through art.

This year’s inaugural competition received an overwhelming 732 entries coming from all ages from all over the country, and organized by SM Supermalls, BDO Unibank Inc., and the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, she added. | CGC
