Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. said on Wednesday (March 20) that Councilor Donato Dumaguit may still file a motion for consideration on his expulsion from the Municipal Council of La Castellana.

“It is his right,” Nellas said.

The expulsion of Dumaguit was recommended by the Provincial Legal Office as a form of a disciplinary action, based on the provisions of the Local Government Code.

Dumaguit was expelled after incurring 14 consecutive absences from the regular sessions.

He was replaced by Kent Magnabe, who took his oath of office before Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on March 18.

Dumaguit was linked to an alleged recruitment scam that victimized 47 aspiring police officers.

He is facing multiple charges before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. | GB
