Oil companies announced mixed movements in the prices of petroleum products effective tomorrow, Dec. 5, with diesel set to go down by P0.30 to P0.40 per liter, while gasoline and kerosene could increase by P0.10 to P0.20/L, and P0.30 to P0.50/L, respectively.

This will be the second week that the price of diesel will be reduced, following a minimal P0.30/L rollback effective Nov. 28. The cost of kerosene also decreased by P0.65/L last week, while there was no movement for gasoline.

The recent adjustments resulted in a net increase of P6/liter for diesel, P12.30/L for gasoline, and P1.74/L for kerosene since the start of this year, the Department of Energy Oil Monitor showed.

Meanwhile, there was no price movement for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) effective Dec 1, said Petron Corporation, which was recently awarded by the Bureau of Customs for being the leading contributor to the government’s fuel marking program.

The program, implemented since 2019, aims to curb fuel smuggling.

Petron said in a statement that it consistently topped BOC’s list of participating oil companies, with 17.83 billion liters of marked fuel from September 2019 to October 2023. | CGC
