Bacolod, Kabankalan grads top board exams for teachers

Two schools in Bacolod City and one in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, produced topnotchers in the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) as per results released by the Professional Regulation Commission this afternoon, May 19.

Andrea Nicole Vicera Sumugat, a graduate of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos ranked Top 1 in the LEPT elementary level with a rating of 92.20 percent.

Silverio Flores Tortocion III of Kabankalan Catholic College, meanwhile, landed in Top 9 with a 90.60 percent rating.

In the LEPT secondary level, two graduates of the University of St. La Salle made to the Top 10, the PRC said.

Keana Marie Fernandez Bartolome ranked fourth with a 92.20 percent rating, while Venus Nicole Severino Jucal placed ninth with a rating of 91.20 percent.

The PRC said that 24,819 elementary teachers out of 60,896 examinees, or 40.76 percent, and 48,005 secondary teachers out of 102,272 examinees, or 46.94 percent, passed the LEPT given March 19 in 37 testing centers all over the Philippines.

It added that of the 24,819 elementary teacher passers, 19,390 are first timers and 5,429 are repeaters. For the secondary teachers, 39,890 passers are first timers, and 8,115 are repeaters.

“The USLS’ success extended beyond individual achievements, as the University achieved an overall passing rate of 86.05 percent in the secondary level, surpassing the national passing rate,” the USLS said in a statement as it congratulated the topnotchers, all successful examinees, and the College of Education for their accomplishments.

It added that among the first-time examinees from USLS, 95.71 percent successfully passed the secondary level exam, or 67 out of 70 takers. “In the elementary level, USLS excelled with 27 out of 28 examinees passing the exam, resulting in an impressive passing rate of 96.43 percent”.

Talisay Mayor Neil Lizares, meanwhile, congratulated the 189 new teachers produced by the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University-Talisay Main Campus, and for ranking 10th in the elementary level for 50 or more examinees category, with a passing rate of 93.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the PRC also released Friday the results of the April 2023 Special Professional Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.

It said that 101 elementary teachers out of 380 examinees, or 26.58 percent, and 200 secondary teachers out of 591 examinees, or 33.84 percent, passed the Special Professional Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers given April 22 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Al Ahmadi, Kuwait; Al-Khobar, Jeddah and Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Doha, Qatar; Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, and Singapore./CGC
