Bacolod Lone District Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said that bulk of the proposed P2 billion allocation for Bacolod in the 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) is for local infrastructure projects.

He said Sept. 4 that the primary focus of the proposed funding is flood mitigation, specifically the installation of pumping stations and floodgate systems along major waterways.

Benitez, also the House deputy speaker, said the proposed measures were selected following technical evaluations and a series of discussions during the multi-sectoral flood summit.

“Again, our flood control is not something that we just made up. This passed through our flood summit where it was studied, discussed, and debated,” the solon said.
