12-hour brownout March 4-5

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines scheduled a 12-hour power outage on March 4 and 5, both starting at 6 a.m., and will affect several areas served by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative in Bacolod City and neighboring local government units, and of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative.

The NGCP said it will conduct maintenance activities on Saturday along the Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV line, which will affect Ceneco’s Sum-ag and Lag-asan substations, and Noceco’s Valladolid, La Carlota, and San Enrique substations.

Maintenance activities will also be conducted on March 5 that will affect Ceneco’s Silay substation.

Ceneco acting general manager, Atty. Arnel Lapore, said the March 4 outage will cover Sum-ag feeders 1 and 2, from the substation to the Sum-ag Highway, whole of Punta Taytay Road including VMA, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Brgy. Cabug along Circumferential Road, from Araneta down to HJR Prawn Processing, to the Handumanan Slaughterhouse, among others, towards Bago City in Negros Occidental.

The Hilangban substations in Bago will also be affected, the Ceneco said in an advisory.

Noceco, meanwhile, said areas to be affected include the whole of Pulupandan, Valladolid, San Enrique, La Carlota except for barangays Cubay, Nagasi, San Miguel, Ara-al, Balabag, La Granja, Haguimit, and Yubo, whole of Pontevedra except for barangays Mabini and Zamora, and parts of Hinigaran like barangays Miranda, Camba-og, Anahaw, Tuguis, Baga-as and portion of Gargato.

On Sunday, the NGCP will conduct its annual preventive maintenance servicing (PMS) of the Bacolod-Silay 69kV line and its associated HVEs (high-voltage electronics) at the Bacolod substation, Lapore said, adding the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. brownout will be experienced by Silay and Talisay consumers served by the Talisay, Panaogao, and Lopez substations.

Electricity consumers are advised that, in case of any power interruption, electrical switch/es should be turned-off for safety reasons, he said. “When electricity supply resumes, please provide allowance of about 10 to 15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge.”/CGC
