In celebration of the National Arts Month, the administration of Mayor Marvin Malacon tapped the artistic talent of students of E. B. Magalona National High School (EBMNHS) for its “Pinta Basurahan” contest this year.
Spearheaded by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), the contest was launched Feb. 22, with MENRO-designate Jojo Vargas announcing the contest guidelines and mechanics during the flag-raising ceremony at EBMNHS.
This is a group painting contest, with eight groups representing the eight academic subjects, and the participants coming from the Junior High and Senior High of EBMNHS.
Each group has four students and one teacher-adviser, and given four trash bins on which to paint their artworks.
MENRO also provided the participants with paint and brushes, and P500 in cash for the extra materials needed.
Vargas said the cash prizes will be P7,000 for the champion, P5,000 for the first runner-up, P4,000 for the second runner-up, and P2,000 as consolation prize.
Also at stake are special awards, including the Social Media Choice Award.
The judging of artworks and the announcement of winners will be on March 1. ||
