NegOcc activates peace, security councils

The Negros Occidental Provincial Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC) has been activated, and composed of the Philippine National Police, Army, Coast Guard, and the Commission on Elections.

Following its activation Nov. 19, top military, police, Coast Guard, and Comelec officials in Negros Occidental met at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City to strengthen coordination and interoperability among security forces, in preparation for the May 2022 elections, provincial police deputy spokesperson, P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, said.

Donasco said that the increased monitoring for possible election hotspot areas was among the topics discussed during the meeting, which was attended by Bacolod City Election Officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña, who represented provincial Comelec supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria, Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte – 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, P/Col. Romy Palgue – NOCPPO director, and Capt. Ludovico Librilla, chief of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Negros Occidental Station.

The PCG has been included in the JPSCC as agreed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the PNP, and Comelec.

Pasaporte, Palgue and Librilla have been designated co-chairpersons of the Negros Occidental JPSCC.

Caña also discussed Comelec Resolution No. 10695 that prescribes the calendar of activities for the 2022 elections, including the prohibited acts. — GB, MML
