Thirty-five passengers of a Ceres Liner bus sustained minor injuries during a road accident in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Friday.

Jesidith Marquez-Seballos, Vallacar Transit Inc. media relations officer, said that the bus driver stopped in an uphill portion of the road in Sitio Bandihan to allow a passenger to disembark.

However, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which fell on its side, after it slowly moved backward.

Marquez-Seballos debunked claims that the bus was overloaded, saying that it actually has a 39-person seating capacity.

Of the 35 passengers, only five are still being treated for minor injuries at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital.

All them are in stable condition, Marquez-Seballos said.

The driver of the passenger bus is now under investigation, she added. | GB
