Three members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the police in Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Jan. 3.

The former rebels, with aliases “Kokoy”, “Ashly” and “Chan”, were members of the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command, also known as the Northern Negros Front, which was already dismantled by the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion.

They gave themselves up to the Escalante City Police Station and the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company through the successful negotiation and swift facilitation by concerned police units, regional police spokesperson, PMaj. Mary Grace Socorro Borio, said.

She said the city government is now processing the benefits due to the former rebels, including their enrollment in the national government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, and the Project “Pag-Ulikid”, wherein they will receive benefits from the local government. | GB
