The Kabankalan City Hall

Twenty-four employees of Kabankalan City Hall tested positive for COVID-19 after the death of an assistant city engineer last month.

The infected employees include 17 from the City Engineer’s Office, four from the City Assessor’s Office, and one each from the City Treasurer’s, General Services, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

City Administrator Sixto Garaygay also said that nine employees from DRRMO tested positive for the virus before the death of the assistant city engineer.

He added that for two days now, no additional employees were found positive after the swab tests conducted on all close contacts of CEO employees who were first discovered to have been infected by the virus.

Garaygay is appealing to the public not to worry in doing transactions at City Hall since the employees on duty this week all tested negative in their swab tests.

He also appealed to jeepney, tricycle, and even bus drivers not to discriminate City Hall employees as passengers.

Garaygay said he received information that some tricycle drivers also refuse to accept passengers bound for City Hall. Some employees do not wear their uniforms when they report to office or go home after work so as not to be discriminated.

                NEW CURFEW HOURS

An executive order prescribing new curfew hours in Kabankalan City was issued by Mayor Pedro Zayco Tuesday under the guidelines extending the modified general community quarantine status of Negros Occidental until the end of 2020.

The curfew hours shall be strictly observed from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., from the previous 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Garaygay said the new EO mandates the wearing of face shields in addition to face masks when in public places or when entering private or government offices.

The EO also orders the lifting of city road boundary checkpoints. – MLipa
