Two minors drowned, while three of their companions survived, after the water level rose while they were swimming May 22 at the seaside of Purok Mahidaiton in Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police investigations show that the five minors, who went swimming, failed to notice the rising level of the water due to high tide.
One of the three survivors told the Bago City police that Jimuel Padilla and Lean Flor were swept away by the current and drowned.
The three others, who were washed ashore, immediately sought help from residents in the area.
Padilla and Flor were declared dead on arrival at the Bago City District Hospital./GB
