Two barangay health workers from the town of Mabinay were among the eight new COVID-19 positive cases in Negros Oriental.
In a virtual press conference yesterday, Acting Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion said there are now 525 cases recorded in the province since the start of the pandemic and the new cases are from six local government units.
Of the eight new cases, two are patients admitted at Siliman University Hospital while four are locally stranded individuals from Aguyungon, Bayawan City, Sibulan and Bacong.
Of the total number of cases in Negros Oriental, 14 died, 156 are active cases and 355 have recovered.
Negros Oriental is the first LGU in the country to record a death from COVID-19 after a member of the Sanguniang Bayan of Tayasan died in March. – MML
