Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez urged resident to coordinate with their respective barangays for water rationing, as seven tankers are ready to bring water to those in need.

This as motor pumps were set up and tested at Bocal Bocal Spring in Barangay Alangilan April 9, in line with the city’s water rationing program, the city Public Information Office said, adding a 5,000-liter water tanker has been filled up.

In response to the low water supply, exacerbated by El Niño, the Bacolod City government has partnered with the Manila Water Company Inc. and Manila Water Foundation, as well as the Amity and Chamber Volunteer fire brigades, Red Cross, and the Office of Councilor Cindy Rojas for the “Patubig sa Barangay”, the city said in a press release, adding that this project is initiated by Benitez to supply water to barangays most in need.

The mayor thanked the city’s partners “for their collaboration in addressing the pressing needs of our people during this challenging period of El Niño.”

“Kaupod sang aton DRRMO (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office) personnel, handa na ang aton mga water deputees sa pagdul-ong sang aton patubig sa barangay. Makig-angot lang sa inyo mga barangay kung kinahanglan kamo sang tubig,” Benitez said in a post April 9.

The DRRMO said it conducted water distribution and rationing April 8 in puroks Fortaleza and Guanzon, as identified by the Barangay Mansilingan DRRM Committee. | CGC
