Twenty-one-year-old veterinary student, Kyla Rose Romarate, from Barangay V, was crowned as this year’s Kadalag-an Queen and Victorias City’s first-ever Sidlak Queen during the star-studded grand coronation night at the City Sports and Amusement Center March 18.

Romarate, an advocate of tourism, culture, arts, and heritage, also bagged several awards, including Best in Talent, Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Gown, Miss Photogenic, Sidlak Queen of Talk, Sidlak Designer Award, Darling of the Crowd, Ms. Northland Resort-Hotel Award, Ms. Global Strategic, and Ms. EGY Aesthetic and Medi Spa.

She took home more than P100,000 in prizes from Bingo Plus, EGY Aesthetic, and Medi Spa, and from the other awards she received, the city said.

Education students Cassandra Maureen Matugas and Pauline Isabelle Guanzon were the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, Daniel Matsunaga, Mikee Andrei, and Rene Hinojales were among the judges during the most awaited coronation night, hosted by Miss Universe Philippines 2020 4th runner-up Billie Hakenson and Marco Gumabao.

Popstar royalty Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli set the fire on stage as she performed her latest singles and a duet with her husband, Matteo Guidicelli.

Guidicelli also serenaded Victoriahanons with his rendition of some of the country’s popular love songs.

Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez shared a beautiful message of inclusive beauty that goes beyond popular standards.

“Let us remember that beauty is more than just skin-deep. True beauty radiates from within and it is the embodiment of the values that we hold dear as a community, kindness, generosity, and empathy,” he said in his message at the coronation.

He also said the winner will automatically become the city’s ambassador.

“Tonight will not only be a victory for you but a call you must heed. And that is to be a role model to every young Victoriahanon woman, an epitome of beauty with a purpose, and an empowered woman who truly reflects the lady of victory,” he said before the start of the pageant.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Congressman Kiko Benitez, members of the Negros Association of Local Chief Executives, Victorias City officials, some city and municipal officials in the province, and festival sponsors, graced the grand coronation.

Festival director and City Information Officer Joy Famini, together with the Team Acids Production, directed the show.

This year’s search for the Kadalag-an Queen was well-received for its spectacular and grand-scale production. ||
