US Embassy lauds Dumaguete mayor

The consuls of the Embassy of the United States of America in Manila paid a courtesy call on Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo April 28 to convey their appreciation of his leadership, and the department heads for their continued support and assistance to U.S. citizens currently residing or visiting Dumaguete City.

Consul general Brendan Mullarkey and Consul Kristofor Graf – chief of the American Citizens Services unit in Manila, awarded Remollo and heads of the legal, health, and social welfare departments, with a plaque of recognition for steadfast support to the U.S. citizens in the Visayas, the city said.

Part of the citation reads: “Your partnership has protected vulnerable Americans and reinforced Dumaguete’s reputation as a welcoming home for U.S. citizen retirees and visitors alike”.

City administrator Lilani Ramon, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer Allen Froilan Cabaron II, City Legal Office OIC Francis Filipinas, and US Embassy senior consular specialist Leo Balantac also joined the meeting.

The discussion included the readiness of the city in case of an emergency or natural disaster, considering the potential threat of Mt. Kanlaon that is currently Alert Level 3. ||
