More than a month after a P10,000 reward was offered for his immediate arrest, the security guard, who allegedly threatened with a gun a group of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was arrested in Guimaras.

PMaj. Rhazl Jim Jocson, Talisay City deputy police chief, said in a radio interview that PLt. Col.  Salvador Trono Jr. led the serving of arrest warrant against Jose Alonsaga on Wednesday (March 26) in Barangay Taminla, Buenavista town.

Jocson said that  Alonsaga is facing charges for violation of the Omnibus Election Code and for grave threats, with a total of P156,000 bail recommended by the court for his provisional liberty.

A viral video showed a man, identified later by the Talisay City police as Alonsaga, pointing a gun at a woman before firing into the ground in Barangay Dos Hermanas.

The incident sparked outrage on social media.

The Hacienda San Antonio Dos Management offered a P10,000 reward for the immediate arrest of Alonsaga.

Robert Torres, counsel of the hacienda management, earlier called on the police to exert their best effort in arresting Alonsaga to expose his motive in the incident.

The incident stemmed from a land dispute between 15 ARBs and Paul Chang in Hacienda San Antonio Dos.

Torres said that Alonsaga is not connected to the hacienda management. | GB
