Councilor Jason Villarosa has requested the City Legal Office and the Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department to strictly enforce the ordinance against loud and noisy motorcycle mufflers.

“Modified and customized mufflers have become widespread in Bacolod, causing unnecessary noises that significantly disturb the peace of the surroundings,” Villarosa said in his resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, hence the need to strictly enforce City Ordinance 365, series of 2004, which regulates noise pollution in the highly-urbanized city.

The ordinance prohibits any person…to create or produce noise beyond allowable level, the councilor said. “No person shall cause or permit the discharge into open air of the exhaust of any steam engine, diesel engine, internal combustion engine, turbine engine or similar device so as to create in excess of 90 dB measured on acceleration at 10 meters distance”.

The SP said the city government is committed to ensure that noise pollution that irritate the environment be effectively eradicated. | CGC
