More sports facilities eyed at Panaad Park Stadium

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is constructing more sports facilities at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, after losing its bid to host the 2024 Palarong Pambansa to Cebu City.

There is no longer any doubt that Dr. Sunny “Pin” Diego is an inspiration to our island of Negros, and of Filipinos, in the world of jiu jitsu.
Pin, born in Bacolod City, and studied at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, has been putting Negros and the Philippines on the jiu jitsu map worldwide.

Cebu City prevailed over Negros Occidental and Antique in the bid to host the 2024 Palarong Pambansa.

The announcement of the host for the 2024 Palarong Pambansa was made by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte Saturday, during the closing ceremony of the 2023 games at the Marikina Sports Center.

Filipinas open Women’s World Cup bid vs. Swiss

The Filipinas finally make their highly-anticipated debut in the FIFA Women’s World Cup today as they open their campaign in Group A against Switzerland at the Forsyth Barr Stadium under expected nippy weather in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Despite being the underdogs, the players of the Philippine team are expected to be in high spirits, hoping that their 18-month preparations would pay off against the La Nati in their 5 p.m. clash (1 p.m. Manila time) at the 30,000-capacity arena that was a site of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

A middle-and-long distance runner from Sagay City won three gold medals in the 2023 National PRISAA Meet athletics competition held in Zamboanga City until Monday., July 17.

Rogen Rosalios Aguirre, who represented Western Visayas as a student of Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, topped all his events – the 3,000m steeplechase with his clocking of 9 minutes and 7 seconds, 5k (16:7), and 10k (35:05).
