More than 10 referees, coaches, and players participated in the recent Abanse Negrense sports orientation and clinic for basketball and boxing held in Don Salvador Benedicto Nov. 16 and 17.
The orientation aims to present the mission and vision of the Sports Office under the new normal as part of the grassroots sports development program of Negros Occidental.
Participants learned about coaching styles, basic warm up exercises, the updated ground rules in basketball, basic boxing techniques, including stance, footwork, punches, defenses, and shadow boxing. The coaches were also taught the importance of sparring.
The program was designed under executive assistant Anthony Carlo Agustin, who heads the Provincial Sports Office. — MML
