The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod has commended three siblings for their gymnastics performances in the recent Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet in Antique.

The SP also recommended financial support for the trip of siblings Gavhien Eauhaan, Jeenzxue Mylz, and Beivaan Caedmon Cervantes, and their coaches, to the Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City in May.

The resolution of commendation, authored by Councilor Renecito Novero, said the Cervantes sibling-gymnasts, from Bata National High School and Bata Elementary School 1, brought home golds from the WVRAA Meet early this month.

Gavhien Eauhaan of Bata National High School took the gold in mushroom, vault and individual all-around, and a silver in high bar, which made him the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Secondary champion and pushed the team to the coveted championship.

Jeenzxue Mylz, younger brother of Gavhien, took the gold in high bar, silver in mushroom and in individual all-around, and the bronze in vault; his points also contributed to the Team Championship of Bata National High School, Novero said, adding the youngest Cervantes of Bata Elementary School 1 finished with four gold medals – floor exercises, mushroom, vault, and individual all-around – as well as a silver for high bar.

These performances would not have been accomplished without the dedicated mentoring of their coaches Shiela Ann Sabio (BNHS) and Evelyn Cordero (BES1), as well as the selfless supervision of their principals Job Bentinganan and Jenelyn Macitas (BES1), the resolution stressed.

The cost of representing Western Visayas to the Palarong Pambansa would include the airfare and accommodations, not only for the three gymnasts, but also for their coaches, hence the cash aid recommendation, Novero added. | CGC
