The Province of Negros Occidental will field two teams in the Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup in Subic, Zambales on Feb. 26 to 28.

Team manager Carmela Gamboa said the Negrense squads will leave on Feb. 23 for the country’s first bubble tournament for volleyball this year.

Once they get into the venue with negative swab results, they can leave only after the tournament, she added.

The venue is the same one used during the Philippines’ hosting of the Southeast Asian Games in 2019.

The Team Abanse Negrense players include Alexa Polidario, Erjane Magdato, Jennifer Cosas, and Gelimae Villanueva, with coach Jason Delmo.

Gamboa said two of the players are MAPEH teachers and are top beach volleyball players in the province while the others have played in previous national beach volleyball competitions.

The provincial government provided the teams financial and logistical support aside from the assistance provided by some local government units.
