Two most wanted persons in Negros Occidental were arrested by soldiers and policemen during a joint operation in Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Dancalan in Ilog town recently, Army regional spokesperson, Maj. Cenon Pancito, said.
Nabbed were Vicente Lamintac and Junel Abendan, who ranked numbers one and two, respectively, in the list of most wanted persons of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and facing robbery with homicide charges, Pancito said.
Himamaylan Regional Trial Court Judge Walter Zorilla issued the warrants of arrest against Lamintac and Abendan, and denied bail for their provisional liberty.
Lt. Col. Erwin Cariño, 15th Infantry Battalion commander, said the arrest of the two fugitives, who are residents of Barangay Libacao, Himamaylan City, was an offshoot of the joint intelligence-driven operation and collaboration of all law enforcement agencies.
Two other fugitives, who are facing murder and homicide charges, were also apprehended by the police on Nov. 14 in Salvador Benedicto and Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder in Barangay Kumaliskis, Salvador Benedicto, was Jic Montaño, of Purok Buri in the barangay.
Bacolod RTC Judge Edgar Tupas issued the arrest warrant against Montaño and denied him bail.
Aladino Gumban, who was apprehended by the police in Barangay Zone 2, Hinigaran, for homicide charges, was allowed to post bail of P40,000, as recommended by Bacolod RTC Judge Kathrine Go. – GPB
