SJI, La Salle post win in UNBL Aspirants Basketball

St. John’s Institute Team A and University of St. La Salle paced its respective  bracket with an identical 2-0 card, as the 1s United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Aspirants Basketball Cup 2023 kicked off Saturday at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Covered Court.

The La Sallians USLS dominated Luisa Medel National High School and Colegio San Agustin Bacolod, while SJI  delivered an equally convincing victory against Bata National High School and La Consolacion College of Bacolod.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School (Team A), STI West Negros University (STIWNU), University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Trinity Christian School, Bacolod City National High School and SJI Team B also barged into the win column after turning back their respective opponents.

UNO-R successfully fended off a fourth quarter surge from LCC-B to escape with a 63-58 victory, while UNO-R outplayed LCC-B.

Sixteen schools are seeing action in the tournament, divided into two brackets, with Bracket A comprising of USLS, SJI Team B, BTTHS Team B, LMNHS, BCNHS, CSA-B, St. Rose of Lima School and STI West Negros University.

Bundled in Bracket B are SJI Team A, BTTHS Team A, LCC-B, UNO-R, BNHS, TCS, St. Joseph School-La Salle and Domingo Lacson National High School.

The top four teams in each of the bracket will advance to the knockout quarterfinals. Games are played every weekend. ||
