Silay eyes P1.4B infra projects

The Silay City government is eyeing the construction of several infra projects, all worth about P1.4 billion, already approved and adopted by the City Development Council under Resolution 3-2022, as part of this year’s Annual Investment Program (AIP).

These include the construction of a new government center worth P500 million, including the furniture and site development, either at Hacienda Puyas or Normandia, or at the existing City Hall site; a sports complex with training facility at the Jison property in Barangay IV, worth P300 million;

The establishment of Silay City College, including the construction of building and support facilities, and site development in Hda. Makina, Barangay Rizal – P300 million; and repairs of public market buildings 1 and 2, to include the construction of a 3-storey building that will house the terminal, dry and wet markets, and offices – P300 million.

The Silay resolution has been referred to the appropriate committee of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental during its regular session Tuesday.

The SP will also study the appropriation ordinance of Bago City or its approved General Fund Supplemental Budget 17, in the amount of P3.15 million; the resolutions of Candoni and Manapla on their Municipal AIPs for 2023, and the towns’ Environment Code and Market Code, respectively, among others.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, meanwhile, requested the SP for proper action with regard the proposal of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines for the crafting of a Comprehensive and Standardized Safety and Security Ordinance in the operation of the Bacolod-Silay Airport./CGC
