One-hundred six fisherfolk from barangays Punao, 3, 5, Guadalupe, Palampas, San Juan, and Ermita received assistance from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region VI on April 29.

Each beneficiary received P3,000 in cash, half sack of rice, two trays of eggs, and two dressed chickens, under the DA’s Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fishers Program and funded under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.

The Coastal Resources Management Division of the City Environment and Management Office facilitated the distribution of assistance.

Melvin Maglayon, CRM conservation fellow, said 307 fisherfolk already received the assistance since the start of the distribution on Dec. 18.

Maglayon added that another 50 fisherfolk beneficiaries in San Carlos City will receive similar assistance once the funds will be released by BFAR. ||
