My training trip on Jan. 26 to Isabela which I wrote about last week was sandwiched between two similar journalism education mentorship activities in Bacolod and Talisay cities.
The Isabela trip was significant to me because it was there, where I conducted by series of annual trainings for the most number of years until the pandemic days.
On Jan. 18, I conducted a journalism overview discussion with about 20 members of The TRINITARIAN ENSEMBLE of Trinity Christian School in Bacolod City.
The invitation to share my journalism knowhow was extended by Ma’am Justine Ignacio through our “adoptive” sister Lynn Blanco-Tanjusay of the TCS Senior High.
TCS, which is among the finest high schools in the city and province, has a special place in my heart because of its Christian orientation. I had also previously conducted a similar training at TCS when the publication staff was under then adviser Rhea Valguna-Hofileña, who is now living in Australia.
Knowing the quality of TCS writers, it has not come as a surprise that a number of them returned from national and regional writing competitions as top winners.

On Jan. 25, my team trained our biggest crowd this schoolyear – almost 300 student writers from more than 20 high and elementary schools, both public and private, in Talisay City.
It’s the fifth annual training conducted consecutively in the city.
I’d like to thank Assistant City Administrator Ismael Peñado – who is, among others, the Local School Board coordinator – for the continued trust and confidence.
Assisting me were media colleagues Nanette Guadalquiver, Easter Anne Doza, Nida Buenafe, Keith Cari-an, and Mark Raymund Garcia as well as visual artists Ransom Agui, Francis Ryan Pabiania and John Glenn Teorima.
Thank you, Lord, that you allow me to continue serving by sowing the seeds of journalism. Hopefully, this opportunity will help shape the minds of future leaders in their service to God, country and others.
