A security guard and a laborer died in separate shooting incidents in Bacolod City and in Murcia town, Negros Occidental on May 31 and June 1, respectively, the police said.
The 30-year-old security guard, whose identity was withheld by the police, was on his way home from work on Saturday night when he was gunned down by a still unidentified assailant on Locsin Street.
PMaj. Elmer Bonilla, chief of Bacolod City Police Station 1, said the victim, who succumbed to a head injury, was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Investigators recovered from the scene of the incident six spent shells and two deformed slugs believed to be from a caliber 9mm pistol.
Before the incident, the victim received death threats, which are now also being investigated.
On May 31, three unidentified men shot to death a 38-year-old laborer in Barangay Amayco, Murcia town.
The victim, who was not named by the police, was having a snack at a sari- sari store when the assailants arrived and shot him without any provocation.
He died on the spot due to multiple gunshot injuries.
Police recovered 11 spent shells and three deformed slugs of calibers .45 and 9mm pistols at the scene of the incident. | GB
