The installation of 58 solar-powered LED roadway lights, on the other hand, was aimed at enhancing nighttime safety and visibility, the DPWH said in a statement.

It also completed the road construction and drainage improvement in Purok Villa Villeta, Barangay Estefania.

The 800-meter newly-constructed road connects the Iglesia ni Cristo church to Greenhill Memorial Park and Crematorium, with a box culvert installed to interconnect drainage systems, safeguarding the area against water accumulation and flooding during heavy rainfall.

In Barangay Mandalagan, preventive road maintenance through asphalt overlay was completed for a 486-linear-meter section, from Tultogan Bridge to the Valley of Peace Memorial Park.

A total of 7,354.20 square meters of asphalt was laid to enhance road durability, with reflectorized thermoplastic and yellow lane markings, as well as bike lanes on both sides.

BCDEO OIC-District Engineer Leah Jamero said these road projects aim to enhance connectivity and improve traffic flow throughout the highly-urbanized city.

She also reported on the completion of the public market building in Barangay Mansilingan. “The state-of-the-art facility is set to transform the local market landscape, providing a safer, more organized, and functional commercial space for both vendors and customers.”

The facility features sections for wet and dry goods, ensuring a hygienic, and orderly shopping environment. Each stall has unglazed tiled counters, plumbing systems, and fixtures to maintain cleanliness and efficiency.

A fire alarm system and CCTV cameras were also installed, while roll-up aluminum doors protect vendors’ merchandise. “The roofing system, constructed with structural steel trusses, ensures durability against harsh weather conditions, and the ceiling incorporates reflective insulation and fiber-cement boards for a sustainable design.” ||
