Negros Oriental Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, 2nd District Rep. Chiquiting Sagarbarria, and Dumaguete City Vice Mayor Maisa Sagarbarria led the inauguration of Barangay Daro’s infrastructure project in the city.

Local government representatives and community members convened in Maria Asuncion Village to commemorate the completion of the road and canal networks, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 27.

This program is a component of a larger effort to improve the community’s infrastructure and living standards for its citizens, the Capitol said in a press release.

Improved roads are crucial for facilitating transportation and accessibility, allowing residents to commute efficiently for work, education, and healthcare services. The newly-constructed pathways not only enhance mobility but also contribute to economic development by attracting businesses that rely on efficient logistics.

A well-maintained canal system also plays a vital role in managing water flow during heavy rains, thus mitigating flood, which is a persistent issue affecting many communities in Negros Oriental.

“By prioritizing infrastructure improvements, local governments can create environments that enhance the standard of living of their residents. These programs ultimately serve as pillars for both comprehensive community development and resilience against climate-related challenges,” the Capitol said. ||
