Bacolod LGU hires 142 parttime BCC teachers, 95 brgy. nutrition scholars

The Bacolod City government is engaging the services of 142 part-time instructors for the Bacolod City College, until June 8, 2024, and 95 barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) until the end of this year.

Under the contracts of service ratified by the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its session April 17, each parttime BCC faculty member shall be paid an hourly rate ranging from P150 to P250, depending on the subject, with payments to be made each month.

The services of these instructors “shall be performed in various learning delivery options that the BCC may find convenient and consistent with the health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic or the post-pandemic ‘new normal’, and in conformity with any advisory/circular/instruction of any government agency or its appropriate agency on education, that may constitute but not be limited to face-to-face, blended learnings, distance learnings, homeschooling, full online education, flexible learning or in whatever combination of methods,” the COS, signed by Mayor Alfredo Benitez April 8, showed.

Each BNS, meanwhile, shall receive an allowance of P7,000 a month, or P84,000 in total for a year of actual service.

The BNS shall conduct Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus and submits OPT Plus reports of all 0-59 months old children or preschool children below six years old in all barangays, with at least an 80 percent achievement at the end of OPT;

Reweigh identified 0-23 months old pre-schoolers, conduct supplementary feeding to identified malnourished children and other nutritionally-at-risk individuals, lead in the delivery of all nutrition and related-services to priority target groups, provide monthly and quarterly record of basic services rendered and data gathered, and assist in the implementation of the programs of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition during consultations, immunization, pre-natal and other activities in health centers, among others.

Each of the numbered villages of Bacolod will have one BNS, while the urban barangays have two to four BNS depending on size and population. | CGC
