The human form amidst the priceless blessings of Nature.

The thought of the blend of these wonderful creations struck me as a compelling inspiration for an environment-focused advocacy using my professional photography and visual arts background for about 25 years now.

Thus, “RESET: Remember Your Duty to Nature” was born.

And so, one December morning, our small team of four – myself, videographer Raffy Vargas Gabino and models Christian Mariano Perez, 22, of Ilog and 20-year-old Klien Mars Cuadra of Barangay Tangub, packed our accessories and hied to the rustic village of Sta. Cruz in Murcia, a little more than 20 kms. east of Bacolod City, for a photo shoot session.

Sta. Cruz is known for its serene setting, fruit-bearing trees, gaming bird farms, waterfalls and the popular Caliban River.

The outcome of that trip to Sta. Cruz: the 2021 ICON digital calendar featuring 12 art photography pieces which aim to promote nature appreciation and conservation, while highlighting the gift of the human body form, as well as strengthen awareness of issues related to environmental protection and the impact of global warming.

ICON is a self-owned photography and visual arts enterprise.

With the apocalyptic-like events that happened this year, like super typhoons, floods and COVID-19, we are reminded to heed the call for help of Mother Nature.

“While we enjoy our nature trip to Sta. Cruz, we are even more privileged to have the opportunity to convey the message of the need for saving our environment,” said Klien and Christian.

The project, which is non-profit, offers the calendar free for downloading via our Facebook page (ICON Photography by Jay Amarante).

With this advocacy, I am looking forward to more occasions to use my skills and talents to ensure that future generation will continue to enjoy the blessings of nature.

A photo exhibition and calendar launch are scheduled this month. The date and venue will be announced through our Facebook page as soon as details are finalized. – NWI
