The Office of Civil Defense said May 11 that regions 6, 7, and the Cordillera Administrative Region are under red, or the highest level of alert, this midterm elections.
All other regions, including the NCR, are under blue alert, the OCD said.
The red alert is declared “to address an ongoing or in anticipation of an imminent emergency situation”, while the raising of the blue alert status of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is primarily “in preparation for a slow onset hazard event or in anticipation of situation escalation, requiring selected duty personnel.”
The emergency condition is declared when a hazard has been assessed to have potential impacts or effects to lives and properties, and may warrant the need to coordinate the delivery of emergency assistance or support from relevant government agencies, it explained.
The continuing Mount Kanlaon restiveness in Negros is being monitored by the OCD and concerned agencies, amid preparations for today’s national and local elections.
Under the red alert status, uniformed personnel, the DILG, DSWD, DOH, DA, DepEd, DPWH, DOE, and other concerned agencies…shall immediately deploy detailed duty officers (DDOs) at the NDRRMOC to render 24-hour duty on a rotational basis.
DOST-PAGASA and the DENR-MGB shall also render duty, in light of hydro-meteorological disaster events, providing initial analyses and forecasts essential for planning, in addition to the regular forecasts and advisories routinely issued, the OCD said. ||
