Angel Mae Baldoquin, a 19-year-old Psychology student of STI-West Negros University in Bacolod, was crowned as this year’s Dinagsa Queen of Cadiz City during a grand coronation held at the Cadiz Arena Thursday night, Jan. 23.
Baldoquin bested nine other hopefuls to claim the coveted title and crown. She was crowned by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., first lady Mariel Escalante, and Dinagsa Queen 2024 Ayah Jane Sucajel.
She took home P50,000 in cash prize.
Chelcie Chassandra Binoya and Rochelle Ramos were named first and second runners-up, respectively.
Binoya pocketed P40,000, while Ramos was P30,000 richer that night, the city said Jan. 24.
Movie and television actor Gab Lagman serenaded the candidates, adding flavor to the coronation revelry.
“I feel overwhelmed and honored to be crowned Dinagsa Queen 2025. I am determined to fulfill my responsibilities by serving the people of Cadiz City to the best of my abilities,” Baldoquin said.
She highlighted the importance of self-belief and uniqueness as key factors to her pageant success, being a certified morena.
“My own uniqueness gave me strength throughout this journey. I want to use my title to inspire the youth and all Cadiznons to remain motivated and work together for a progressive future,” she added.
The newly-crowned queen dedicated her victory to her parents, who are working in Poland. “Even though they are far away, their unwavering support and love kept me going.”
The search for this year’s Dinagsa Queen continues to be a vital part of the annual Dinagsa Festival, celebrating the beauty, talent, and culture of Cadiz. ||
