The VICMICO Planters’ Association, VICMICO Planters’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and VMC Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Negros Occidental are supporting the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo in the 2022 elections.
The sugar planters’ group and cooperatives called Robredo a “servant leader”.
In a statement, they said that Robredo is not beholden to anyone, or any ideology other than to serve the Filipinos”.
“No one forced Leni to serve the people as Vice President, and no one will force her to serve when she becomes President,” the statement said, stressing that Robredo has been serving the marginalized sector for a long time.
Leni’s programs reveal her conviction that there is no better way to show love, to prove love, and to have that love felt, than to serve, it added, stressing that she has been serving even if the Office of the Vice President has little or no budget.
“By submitting her Certificate of Candidacy as an independent candidate, Leni has unapologetically broken from the mold to say that she will be the President of All,” the statement also said.
Servant leadership is not easy. It is very hard. But it can be sustained if one decides that this is how life must be lived, for service, and for others, it also said. — GB
