PCG suspends sea trips due to bad weather

The Philippine Coast Guard suspended on Monday, Jan. 27, trips from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental to Toledo City, Cebu due to bad weather and sea condition until further notice.

In a sea travel advisory, the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Northern Negros Occidental (NNOC) suspended the trips of M/V Lite Ferry 1, M/V Lite Ferry 2 and M/V Fastcat M7 to Cebu.

Commander Jan Terazona, CGS NNOC acting station commander, advised the riding public, coastal communities and fisherfolk to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea, and if possible, avoid navigation during inclement weather condition.

Easterlies causes rough sea at the northern part of Negros and Cebu, based on the advisory issued by the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Eighty seven passengers were stranded at the San Carlos City port due to suspension of sea trips, according to Ensign Jesa Pauline Villegas, public information officer of the CGS NNOC. | GB
