Victorias City vice mayoral aspirant, Councilor Derek Palanca, yesterday slammed the people surrounding his father, former Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, who is reportedly running for governor of Negros Occidental.

The younger Palanca said that he has not even heard any announcement from his father.

In a Facebook post, he said that they are “misguiding and merely using him, perhaps ego feeding him, for clout to advance their own political agenda.”

“Let me be clear that I love my father, and we are in good terms, as far as the father and son relationship goes,” he added.

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) deputy secretary general for Visayas Jesus “Jayvee” Hinlo earlier said that he is 99 percent sure that Palanca will run for governor.

‘Who is this Jayvee Hinlo, who speaks in behalf of him?” he asked.

During a press briefing on Monday in Victorias City, the councilor joined his colleagues in supporting the tandem of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and his runningmate, Fourth District Board Member Jose Benito Alonso.

He said that he is standing firm in his principles to uphold the solidarity of his party.

“I am also a man of my word,” he added. | GB
