Four community road improvement subprojects, costing P9.8 million and benefiting 773 households, were recently turned over to the municipal government of Ayungon in Negros Oriental, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) said.
The subprojects were implemented in barangays Banban, Jandalamanon, Tambo, and Tibyawan in the town, with focus on the concreting and improvement of critical access roads to enhance mobility, support local economic activities, and ensure faster, safer travel for residents accessing basic services.
In Sitio Tambulan, Barangay Banban, a 0.152-kilometer road concreting project was completed for P1.97 million; 0.218-kilometer concrete road in Sitio Mangkolantol, Barangay Jandalamanon, P2.48 million; 0.209-kilometer road infrastructure in Sitio Proper, Barangay Tambo, P3.48 million; and 0.162-kilometer concrete road, worth P1.87 million, in Sitio Ilaya, Tibyawan.

To complement the Kalahi-CIDSS allocations, the local government unit (LGU) of Ayungon provided counterpart contributions to ensure the completion of the subprojects that aim to strengthen community resilience, foster local market connection, and bridge structural development gaps in previously hard-to-reach agricultural sitios, the DSWD-NIR said July 3.
The ceremonial turnover was led by DSWD-NIR’s assistant regional director for Operations Aileen Cuevas, and deputy regional program manager John Christian Dumancas, LGU officials headed by Mayor Dennis Amancio and Vice Mayor Nelda Favillaran, and Kalahi RPMO staff. ||
