It will be a merrier Christmas this year for more than 3,000 Capitol workers after Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson announced this evening that each will receive P65,000 in additional bonuses.
The announcement of Lacson was met with standing ovation and cheers from Capitol employees and officials, who attended the birthday celebration of the governor that coincided with the switch-on of the Christmas decorations at the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City.
“After searching for all possible funds that we can give, attended by the different offices, especially the Accounting Office, I will send a request Dec. 14 to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental for an extra blessing to all regular and casual employees,” he added.
Capitol employees each got P40,000 in additional bonus last year, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I wish that all of us will remain in the ‘pink of health’,” the birthday celebrant said.
The P65,000 additional bonuses are on top of the 13th and 14th month pays that Capitol employees received in May and November this year, each equivalent to their one-month salary, and P5,000 as cash incentive.
The switch-on ceremony was also attended by Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and 5th District Rep. Ma. Lourdes Arroyo, among others. – GB
